It’s hard to capture on the camera the exact hue of blues. This is King’s Blue, so named perhaps because of its use in the interiors of palaces and other noble residences, often combined with gilded accents. When I picked this leaf of most astounding golden tones, I knew immediately what the background colour would be! I painted the leaf onto metallic-gold under-painting to accentuate its richness and sheen.
